Under the Base Realignment and Closure Commission recommendations of
2005, Fort Dix, McGuire Air Force Base and the Naval Air Engineering
Station Lakehurst formed a joint operation for base operations under Air
Force lead. It is now part of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
Fort Dix was established in 1917 during World War I, and now
serves as a FORSCOM Training, Mobilization and Deployment
Center. Fort Dix is located about 17 miles southeast of New
Jersey's capital, Trenton. Fort Dix shares a fence line with
McGuire Air Force Base and the Naval Air Engineering Station
in Lakehurst, NJ. |
